From Banker to Builder: Shantanu’s Journey Behind FreedomNest™
Hi, I’m Shantanu Kumar Sahoo,
Founder of FreedomNest™, Financial Educator, Coach & Ex-Senior Banker.
A Life of Service and Finance
Born into a values-rooted Mahajan family with agricultural traditions, I learned the essence of responsibility and stewardship early in life. My journey led me through an educational path across Odisha—earning degrees in LLB, MBA (Banking & Finance), and certifications in CAIIB, Financial Planning, and Rural Economics.
For over 37 years, I served with distinction at the State Bank of India, retiring as Chief Manager. My career spanned branches to senior offices, from rural banking to product management—giving me a rare grassroots-to-global perspective on finance.
For 17 years, I worked tirelessly, managing work, family responsibilities, and financial struggles. Stress, overthinking, and emotional exhaustion became my reality. I suffered from chronic health issues like severe stomach pain, diabetes, and emotional burnout.
Then, in 2020, everything came crashing down. I hit rock bottom.
- Overthinking clouded my mind.
- I battled emotional breakdowns and a short temper.
- Depression became so overwhelming that even suicidal thoughts crossed my mind.
I questioned everything. Was this all life had to offer?
